Because beautiful tattoos deserve beautiful healing.
A fine line tattoo is not simply a mark on the skin — it’s an intentional, delicate composition that requires care beyond the appointment. Healing is a continuation of the work itself. The clearer and more considered your aftercare, the better your tattoo will settle — softly, cleanly, and for the long term.
This guide outlines a minimalist yet effective healing process for Fausto’s clients in Spitalfields, London. Please read it carefully. Save it. Follow it.
Day 1: Immediately After Your Session
Your tattoo will be wrapped at the studio to protect it from bacteria and friction.
Keep the wrap on for 2–4 hours unless advised otherwise.
When ready, wash your hands thoroughly.
Gently remove the wrap and wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free, mild soap (e.g. baby soap or Sanex Zero).
Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid cloth towels, which can harbour bacteria.
Apply a very thin layer of aftercare ointment if instructed (La Roche-Posay Cicaplast, Hustle Butter, or similar). If not, keep it clean and dry.
This is not a time for over-caring. Less is more. Think hygiene and simplicity.
Days 2–5: Controlled Routine
During these first days, your skin is forming a protective layer. Keep the process minimal, consistent, and clean.
Clean once daily — no scrubbing, just a light rinse.
Moisturise only if the tattoo feels dry or tight. A fine line tattoo should never be overly greasy.
Avoid sweating, tight clothing, or excessive movement around the tattooed area.
Do not scratch or pick at the tattoo. It may flake naturally — allow it to do so on its own.
If it itches: tap, don’t scratch. If it stings: rest, don’t panic. If you’re unsure: ask.
Days 6–14: Surface Calm, Deep Work
The surface of your skin may look healed, but deeper layers are still repairing. This is a fragile stage — one where most poor healing happens due to early carelessness.
Continue to cleanse gently.
Moisturise sparingly as needed.
Avoid direct sunlight completely. No SPF until fully healed. Just cover the tattoo or stay in the shade.
Still no soaking — no baths, saunas, swimming, or steam rooms.
Fine line and micro realism tattoos rely on subtlety. This is when you protect that.
After Two Weeks
You may resume normal routines — with caution.
Continue to moisturise the tattoo with unscented cream or lotion.
Apply SPF 50+ if the area is exposed to sunlight.
Expect minor softening of the lines over time; this is natural. Your skin regenerates, and the pigment settles.
Touch-ups are rare but can be discussed after 6–8 weeks if needed.
